Last Friday we left town and headed for St. Louis. This was going to be the last weekend for about a month where we had nothing to do and so we took advantage of it and planned our first family trip! This was also Justin's birthday present from us as well. We left right at prime nap time on Friday and she slept for about 3 hours until we stopped for dinner in Columbia. Once we got back in the car Taegan was ready to talk, dance, and clap. She loved watching her DVD player Grandma and Grandpa got her for the car ride and danced along to the music from that!!!
We got into St. Louis and settled into the hotel around 7:30 which was perfect bed time! Taegan spent some time crawling around the hotel room and playing and then it was milk and off to bed....or that was the plan anyway!
As you can see from the picture she turned into a total giggle box and was so wild. She was hiding from us and laughing so hard and taking the remote from Justin and crawling to the other end of the bed and laughing. So after about an hour of that we tried the bed again....
She still was not ready for that either!!! She ended up falling asleep with us in bed at 10:15!!! I moved her to her bed at 11:30 and she slept just fine there. We woke up around 8 to get ready for our day at the zoo on Saturday.
First, she got to eat breakfast standing up at the coffee table in the living room before we left. She thought this was pretty cool!!!!
The first stop was the children's zoo inside the St. Louis Zoo(which is HUGE and free!!!!). She had no fear about petting the goats with dad! She was really liking that actually.
Next stop was the penguin exhibit which she laughed and talked at a ton. She was amazed at the noises they made and could not stop pointing at them.
The sea lions were the next place-she talked up a storm to them. We also got to see a peacock(I think that is what they are called right?!) How pretty and noisy and huge they are!
It started raining on us so we wrapped up the zoo tour quickly, grabbed a bite to eat and headed back to the hotel. Taegan fell asleep on the way back without eating lunch so we let her sleep and fed her when she got up-which was 45 minutes later. We were hoping for a long nap, but no luck. So we fed her and then headed out for more exploring and to get a few games and DVDs to do that night. Our favorite was Jenga!!!!
The next morning it was still raining so we decided to head to Union Station for some fudge, shopping and then head out of town. We did not know there was a marathon going on and well we got to sit in a parking lot full of cars wanting to leave and us wanting to get in for an hour!!!! We were stuck. We did get fudge and ended up eating lunch there so the traffic line would be gone. Then we were on our way home. Here is our view of the Arch as we left town while it was raining.
On the way home we had to do a detour because of a huge wreck that shut down the highway. We went 1 hour out of our way and ended up getting home at 8:30 at night!!!! We had so much fun and laughed so much....what a great first family vacation. Here is our sleeping princess as we arrived home. She did great in the car.

Oh such fun. Don't you just love family outings. And we were in that neck of the woods this past weekend also. Only a couple hours from St Louis. We were in Hannibal, the home of Mark Twain and Tom Sawyer. We had bunches of fun also. It is so cute to see the little ones explore the hotel rooms. She is a cutie!
How fun!!! Sounds you guys had a great time! I didn't know the St. Louis Zoo was free!! :)
