A good weekend....

Can you believe that we are all better and doing great??? It has been a long two weeks, but we have turned the corner and are doing well. This weekend was my school's Pancake Breakfast and Taegan had a ball helping Mom work the bake sale Saturday morning. She was on the front of me in her Snugli and just loved looking around and being the center of attention. She spent Saturday afternoon and evening with my parents while we went to the KSU game. Sunday was spent cleaning the house and hanging out with Justin's parents Sunday evening for awhile. Taegan is on the move lately. She is rolling and rolling and rolling. I can't believe how much she has changed in a week-it is so fun to watch her move. She is also really starting to laugh a lot and loves to have you blow on her stomach and feet. She finds it very funny and just giggles and giggles. I can hear her now giggling as I type this! She also continues to do great at daycare and just loves her Miss Jeanette. We are so lucky to have such a great provider for her during the day.
Things are still real busy around our house, Justin has class Monday and Wednesday nights so we don't see each other much during the week. And he has also been working some side jobs and for his dad as well. So needless to say it is a quiet house without him around all the time. The time that we do get together we spend laughing and playing with little peanut. We love just sitting and watching her smile and laugh at us. It really is the simple pleasures that we can't get enough of. She is now officially 5 months old-where did the time go??? I have started to write down the birth of Taegan in my journal so that I will always have the specific details of that wonderful day. It has been quite entertaining to go back and write it all down-Justin and I have spent a lot of time talking about that day again and some of the funny aspects of it! I am hoping to one day be able to type it and put it in the front of her baby book-which I am slowly getting started on...enjoy the new pictures of our little girl!
She has figured out how to hide her face when I am trying to take a real cute picture of her smiling at me-I now have 5 of these pictures instead of 5 really cute ones of her!
She thought maybe Dad would share his dinner with her-no such luck little lady!
All dressed up for gameday!!!

Still here....

I am so sorry it has been a while since I have posted. It has been a long week and a half and I hope it ends soon-REAL SOON. Last Monday morning while feeding Taegan and wearing a WAY cute new outfit she decided to throw up all over me. She had still been fighting that cough and stuff so I thought she was trying to get stuff up out of her throat and thought nothing of it. I changed my clothes, changed her, loaded up the car and we were off to daycare! I got a call from Jeanette at about noon saying Taegan had thrown up four more times and she thought I should come get her and get her into the doctor. After calling the doctor to get her in-they sent us straight to the ER because she has not kept food down in over 12 hours. So off we went. They told us she was dehydrated, but they did not want to do and IV. Instead to take her home and try pedialyte. Wonderful!!!
She finally started eating again Monday night at about 5 and then started with awful diarrhea. We were going through a diaper every half hour or so. I decided to see if the grandmas could watch her on Tuesday just thinking it was the flu. I was wanting them to come to our house so I had them split the day because I know what it can be like at someone else's house all day. Needless to say by the time I got home on Tuesday from school she had kept all feedings down and only one bad diaper!! Alright-to daycare we go on Wednesday!
Against our better judgement Tuesday night we met Amy and her family at the mall for dinner real quick-well Taegan had other plans. I have never seen so much puke in my life!!!! She was covered, the car seat was covered and we had NO other clothes. What a great Mom!! So home we went with me deciding to stay home on Wednesday to get her back to the doctor. At this point I was afraid it was the formula for some reason....
The RN we saw said it was just the flu and we were staying ahead on the fluids so to just stay on pedialyte until she felt better. Good thing she liked that. I failed to mention at this point that I had woke up Wednesday to be greeted by this wonderful bug. It found me in the bathroom all morning and I was unable to care for Taegan. So I had to call my mom to come help. She was real excited to be in the same house as us I am sure. Without her we would have never made it to the doctor!!! Taeagan continued to have awful diapers and throw up. Justin had to stay home from school that night to take care of us both-lucky guy!!!
Thursday was a mild day with me thinking that she had really turned the corner and was making her way back to health. I was still weak, so we hung out in bed most of the day. I had it setup for Amy to watch her on Friday so I could head back to school. That was all fine until Taegan decided to throw up everywhere again on Thursday night. I sat down and cried because I was so exhausted. I felt helpless and like I should be doing something more for her. So I stayed home on Friday and called the doctor. They wanted us back.....
We find out Taegan has ROTAVIRUS. Are you kidding me??? It can take 10 days to run its course and is so contagious that the doctor only wanted Justin or I to stay with her as to not get anyone else sick. I forgot to mention that Justin did get it-although he had a very mild case. Turns out on Friday as well my mom came down with it!! What a cute little girl Taegan is getting everyone sick! So needless to say I am home with her until she is symptom free for 24 hours. She threw up twice on Sunday(lunch and dinner feeding) and so far this morning has kept down breakfast. Keep your fingers crossed for me because I do not have an endless supply of days I can get paid for when taking off at school.
Taegan has however decided she could learn how to roll from her back to her tummy while being sick and has otherwise being a pretty good sick baby! She just likes to cuddle when her belly is real upset. For those of you lucky parents that have not had a child get this virus-count your blessings. I would not wish it on my worst enemy. It is awful! Here is a cute picture of her rolling herself up in her blanket and relaxing....
And who knew that she could have a mohawk!!!

Cold, Allergies, Pink Eye...?

Well, Taegan has decided to throw us for a loop right now. Since last Wednesday she has been having 6-7 dirty diapers a day. That all stopped on Monday(which we were glad), but now she has just started with other adventures. The doctor suggested last week that she may be teething and that is where the diapers are coming from-but to just let it run it's course. So we did. Sunday she started getting a really matted eye that was watery and red. I did not think anything of it until it started to really get gross and so I assumed it was pink eye(being around it enough to know). I put a call into the doctor Sunday night that they were supposed to return-NO CALL. I stayed home with her Monday thinking I would have to take her in because she was also running a fever. My doctor called Monday at 7:30 to tell me that if it was pink eye they won't treat it so just keep wiping it clean. They said she would not be contagious once the stuff coming out was gone. Okay-super!! So Monday she was a happy little girl with an itchy eye. But nothing was slowing her down. So we sent her to Grandma Becky on Tuesday morning and the babysitter in the afternoon because she had broke her fever Monday morning and no more eye gunk! I went to pick her up yesterday afternoon to find a fussy baby, with gunk in her eyes, itchy her eye like crazy, and just not very happy! That is not like Taegan at all-so I was worried about our evening. She was great when we got home-eye very red and itchy and still some gunk. Slept great and I had to wake her up this morning. She could not open her eye at all-matted shut. And she had developed a wet cough-geez!!! No fever, so off to daycare she went with me to check up on her. I call at 9:45 to find out she is feeling great. Sleeping, no red, itchy eye, and has not had gunk in it.....this leads me to believe she has been blessed with ALLERGIES!!! Just like her momma-and when I mentioned that to the doctor she thought I was crazy and said if that was it, they don't treat those until age 2! Wonderful-I know from my own experience that allergies are worse at night and in the morning. So, now we just get to see if she gets better when I get better. Poor thing:(

Doctor Visit...

Taegan had her 4 month checkup and shots today. I came home sick at noon today, I have been dealing with an upset stomach lately and it got the better of me today. So little missy and I spent the afternoon sleeping until it was time to head to the doctor. Dad went with us and held her hand while she got the shots and Mom came in to save the day after it was all over. She really let the nurses know that she does not like shots and that she would prefer to smile and laugh with them when they are not hurting her!! She is hoping next time that they will be nicer(although they won't).
We have had a busy few weeks that have passed that I thought I would update you on. On August 23rd went spent the evening in Lawrence to attend a wedding reception of one of Justin's cousins. This was the first time a lot of his extended family had met Taegan, so it was quite a treat getting to show her off. She spent the evening with us until about 8 when my parents came to get her so that Justin and I could have a nice evening to ourselves. Little did we know that I would get a migraine and head back to the hotel early-what a nice evening together! Here are some pictures of us that evening...
This is her new special outfit for the evening!
An attempt at a family picture...we tried.
Time for her evening snooze, thanks Grandpa Greg!
I will leave you with some FUN pictures of her that we have been doing around the house. She continues to do things everyday that make us laugh and realize how lucky we are to have this little light in our lives!!! We love you Taegan! OH-I almost forgot to tell you how big she is now that she is 4 months old. She weighs 15 pounds 9 ounces(75%) and is 25 and a half inches long(90%). Growing like a weed.

Being cool with Dad's hat on.
What a big girl-she is getting so strong.
She is having a ball eating like a big girl-caught her in the act!!

Going Strong...

Priceless...
